Construction Site Superintendent

Rank Group is currently seeking a Construction Site Superintendent to add to our team.

SUMMARY: 

The Construction Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of our worksites (either new builds, tenant fit-ups, or capital gain projects), to ensure we are achieving project objectives on time, to quality standard, and within budget.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES 

  • Coordinate all subcontractors, consultants, materials and equipment to ensure timely completion; providing direction and resolving problems as needed;  
  • Ensure subcontractors are fully executing and complying with contracted scope of work;  
  • Preparation of project schedule; communication and monitoring of project schedule;   
  • Identify deficit work and provide resolution;  
  • Proactively anticipate problems well in advance to avoid schedule delays and/or rush orders; 
  • Maintain daily log of activities on job sites;  
  • Ensure all project documentation is property completed, and submitted on a timely basis;  
  • Meet regularly with assigned personnel to ensure proper communication flow – raise and discuss relevant issues with personnel as needed;  
  • Control and monitor labour material and equipment expenses; assist in preparation of cost forecasting;  
  • Identify any issues in the construction process and communicate to Construction Manager for resolution;  
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control;  
  • Maintain safe job sites and ensure compliance to all OH&S requirements, champion a ‘safety-first- culture at all times;  
  • Ensure job site is kept in a clean and organized manner. 
  • Ensure that “as build” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction process;  
  • Work on jobsites as required to ensure project objectives are met;  
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role of commercial and/or industrial construction projects;  
  • Journeyman’s classification in a skilled trade a strong asset, OR a degree or diploma in a construction management related field 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 
 

  • Proven ability to solve problems;  
  • Ability to effectively lead others;  
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize;  
  • Ability to keep calm in stressful/high pressure situations;  
  • Ability to interpret and implement blueprints and other construction drawings;  
  • Strong knowledge of: 
  • Construction terms; 
  • Project Management concepts; 
  • Budget control concepts;  
  • OH&S legislation; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Professional in presentation and manner.
